real food changed my life
I haven’t always known what to do with myself. As in my career. And I haven’t always considered myself mentally and physically strong. In fact, for many years I struggled to find my voice, my passion, a connection to my body, a purpose. As a child, I was overweight and tormented endlessly. As a teen I struggled with an eating disorder. Through my early 20s, I battled addiction, low self esteem and a real lack of purpose.
I have always had a calling to help others. In Quaker school we learned to serve our communities with compassion. I was drawn to social work and spent the first part of my career working with vulnerable populations, though my impact felt small. I wanted more. I thought about nursing, a masters in Art Therapy, licensure as an LCSW…something, anything!! Then one day my old boss simply said
“WHAT ABOUT NUTRITION?”
And that was that. I enrolled in the Nutritional Therapy Association 2 days later and have been crushing life and creating my dream career ever since. Shout out to Heather Bullis for this one :)
I am just so incredibly jazzed on food. Really….I love it all. And I have a deep devotion to vegetables which has allowed me to connect food as medicine. When I learned to respect my body with REAL food, my life drastically changed. I gained confidence and ignited this true passion for sharing that has opened the doors to a career that makes my soul feel full. My experience working with others has been an epic journey both personally and professionally,. and my goal is to share this huge, massive overflowing amount of knowledge and stoke with you. Because I know you can crush life and feel insanely confident too. I share with you in authenticity. I want you to be inspired.
PARSNIPS | RED CABBAGE | AVOCADO | ASIAN PEAR
These are some of my favorite things. And I could list at least 30 other awesome vegetables. I love walnuts, chia seeds, coconut milk and cauliflower. I also LOVE butter. Seriously ya’ll, food is my passion and I became a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner to make you passionate too! My goal is to inspire. Whole foods are filled with nutrients that keep our bodies running like a well-tuned machine. As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I am trained to help you understand how to use REAL food to heal your body. I combine science-based functional nutrition with a hands-on style of teaching to support you in reaching your health goals. In all honesty, nothing makes me happier!
What People Are Saying
“ I can’t say enough about Ali. If you have medical conditions – heart disease, diabetes, etc, you need to be under a doctor’s supervision. But, in addition to that, I recommend working with Ali on how to change how and what you eat. Clean eating is just that. Yes, it takes a little more time than buying packaged foods but you FEEL so much better and your gut responds accordingly! “
LAURA B, NEVADA CITY
“ Ali explains the harmful effects of problematic fats, proteins and carbohydrates on our bodies and how to replace them with good ones. Making these adjustments in my eating habits has enabled me to lose 15 pounds in three months!! “
Jerri B, Penn Valley
“ I started working with Ali after suffering from bloating, GI distress. amd extreme food sensitivity. I had worked with my doctor to get blood work and other tests done, but felt hopeless. Ali worked with me to figure out what nutrients I may be missing, what supplements to take, what foods to eliminate, and how to keep a food diary! Within 2 months, I am no longer suffering from the bloat, discomfort, or GI issues! She is extremely knowledgable, resourceful, and so good at catering to your unique needs. ”
