5 Reasons to fall in love with apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar literally changed my life. Two capfuls first thing in the morning helped me heal my chronic, 20 year battle with heart burn. Yes, I am still prone to this uncomfortable condition, however its impact on my health has been profound. AND I can use it to clean my house :)

I love whole foods supplements, and ACV is just that. It serves many purposes in the kitchen and supports our health when we use it daily. Plus it’s delicious! ACV is an item my kitchen is never without. Here’s 5 reasons why.

  • It makes fabulous dressings. Mixing 1 part apple cider vinegar with 3 parts olive oil, sets the stage for so many yummy sauce creations. Add pesto, mustard, or hummus with other herbs and spices to create a delicious topping or marinade. See recipes here.

  • It can be used to clean your house.

*Try this easy, all-purpose cleaner recipe instead of using toxic chemicals to wipe down your home. It’s naturally antibacterial!

     o   1 part ACV

    o   3 parts distilled water

o   18-24 drops essential oil (lavender, lemon or orange to lift your mood)

  • ACV has many health benefits. It enhances digestion, promotes balanced blood sugar and can aid in weight loss by supporting our bodies natural ability to detoxify. You can also use it as an anti-fungal to support hair, skin and nails as well as the GI tract.

    • Try mixing 2 capfuls in 6-8oz warm water first thing in the morning or into 8oz of sparkling water before other meals. This can help relieve heartburn, feelings of excess fullness and other digestive complaints.

  • It can be infused with herbal flavorings, AND used to preserve foods. Soaking thinly sliced red onion and radish in ACV is easy. And delicious. Use as a tangy topping for tacos or bowls and get the nutrients and enzyme activity from this yummy whole food.

  • Last, it’s cheap! For around $6, you can get 32oz of this versatile kitchen staple. Not bad considering all the many uses :)
